A teenager is in custody for the stabbing death of a man at University Town Center in Hyattsville last month.
Derrell Emmanuel Mason, 17, was arrested on Monday. He is charged with first-degree murder.
Prince George’s County detectives believe Mason stabbed 21-year-old Leonard R. Smith-Matthews during a fight on June 30. Officers had found Smith-Matthews in a parking garage with injuries to his upper body. At least three others were involved in the fight.
Mason is being held in D.C. and will be extradited back to Prince George’s County.
Investigators have not yet released the motive for the fight or if the Mason and Smith-Matthews knew each other.
