Teammate to Speak in Navy Sex-Assault Case

A former U.S. Naval Academy football player is scheduled to speak publicly for the first time in a case in which a teammate is accused of sexual assault.

Eric Graham of Eight Mile, Ala., who was previously charged in the case, is scheduled to be deposed Tuesday during a hearing in Washington for Joshua Tate of Nashville, Tenn. Tate is facing a court-martial, the military's equivalent of a trial, in mid-March. A military judge has been holding a series of hearings ahead of the trial.

The head of the Navy Academy dismissed the charges against Graham in January after a recommendation from prosecutors. But Graham could be called as a witness at Tate's trial.

The Naval Academy confirmed Monday that Graham is in the process of leaving the school.
