Teacher's Salary Apparently Not Enough

Special ed teacher facing 11 charges

Prince William County Schools apparently isn't paying enough -- at least not for one special ed teacher accused of theft.

Parkside Middle School teacher Anthony Girrard Ward, 34, is facing 11 charges of theft, fraud and forgery, InsideNova.com reported. Virginia State Police arrested Ward in Fairfax County on Jan. 15 and charged him with reckless driving and driving without a license. They then learned he was wanted in Prince George's County, Md., on charges from October and November.

Prince William County Schools spokesman Ken Blackstone said Ward passed his background checks, InsideNova.com reported. Ward started teaching life skills -- presumably skills other than forgery and theft -- at Parkside in August.

The school system placed Ward on administrative leave.
