Taxi Gas Surcharge To Be Dropped

Pump prices have dropped enough to do away with fee

You’ll soon be able to carry a little less cash for your cab ride.

The DC Taxi Cab Commission has decided to drop a one dollar gas surcharge that went into effect more than a year ago. It will officially expire at midnight on Wednesday.

The fee went into effect in March of last year as gas prices started to skyrocket. But now that prices at the pump are starting to drop, the extra fee is being nixed.

The Commission says if prices go up again, they are always willing to bring the charge back.
