Taxi Driver Pepper Sprayed, Robbed by Teens

A taxi driver is recovering after being sprayed in the face with pepper spray and robbed late Friday night in Takoma Park, Maryland, according to police.

Takoma Park police officers responded to the 1100 block of Linden Avenue around 11:30 p.m. and met a driver for the Barwood Cab company. The driver said he picked up a fare at the Wheaton Metro station and drove him to that location.

The suspect, a black teenager, 15 or 16 years old, claimed he was going to get money from his mother but returned and sprayed the driver in the face with pepper spray. Two other suspects appeared and also sprayed the driver.

Police said the suspects took cash from the driver and fled.
