Lawyers for a taxi driver who says he was targeted for attack because he is Muslim want to pursue hate crime charges. News4's Richard Jordan reports.
A Northern Virginia taxi driver claims a passenger verbally and physically assaulted him because he is Muslim.
Mohammad Salim, an Army veteran who served in Iraq, says the conversation was friendly at first, until the passenger became aggressive, criticized the Muslim faith and called Salim a terrorist, which Salim recorded on his cell phone.
The man seen in the cell phone video is Ed Dahlberg, president of Emerald Aviation in Manassas.
Dahlberg turned himself into Fairfax County Police Wednesday night. He has been charged with misdemeanor assault.
His lawyer said Dahlberg regrets his comments but denies ever getting physical with Salim.
