Tap Water Will Be Available at Inauguration

Tap water will be available at January's inauguration, the chairman of Congress's inauguration committee said.

New York Sen. Charles Schumer said in a letter to Corporate Accountability International that just as Washington tap water is available in the Capitol every day, it will be available at inaugural ceremonies.

The general manager of the district's water authority sent Schumer a letter last week asking Congress to serve tap water instead of bottled water at the inauguration. The letter says tap water is a penny a gallon, while bottled water costs 100 times more.

Schumer had announced that New York-based Saratoga Spring Water will supply water for the inauguration.

The senator said in his letter that Saratoga Spring Water is no different that bottled soda and other beverages sold at the Capitol.
