Three Dead in Talbot County Accident

Three people are dead after an accident involving three tractor trailers in Talbot County Tuesday morning, Maryland State Police said.

The accident happened before 7 a.m. on Route 404 at Church Lane in Talbot County, which is on Maryland's Eastern Shore.

State police said their preliminary investigation indicates a tractor-trailer driving westbound on 404 crossed the double yellow lines into oncoming traffic. That truck side-swiped a second tractor trailer, then struck the third tractor-trailer head-on. The trucks burst into flames.

Late Tuesday, State Police said two people had died in the westbound tractor-trailer: Brian Hutcheson, 38, of Ramer, Tennessee, and Danielle Mumford, 24, of Delmar, Delaware. Their pet dog also died in the crash.

Terry Coward, 52, of Culpepper, Virginia, died in the third tractor-trailer. The driver of the truck that was side-swiped was not hurt.

Route 404 remained closed between Route 50 and Route 309 for the police investigation for much of the day. Anyone who witnessed this crash should contact Trooper First Class Gore at the Easton Barrack at (410) 819-4753.
