Tae Kwon Do Instructor Indicted on Child Sex Charges

Quyen Vinh Phan Le indicted on seven felony charges

A local Tae Kwon Do instructor was indicted on seven felony charges for his alleged inappropriate contact with minors throughout the course of five years, police say.

Authorities launched an investigation after a victim contacted them about the abuse in June 2011.

Investigators believe that Quyen Vinh Phan Le, 38, had inappropriate sexual contact with the then-underage victim on multiple occasions between May 2003 and January 2005.

The suspect also had inappropriate contact with a second underage victim in late 2008, police said.

Officials say the incidents occurred at the Phan University of Martial Arts, located at 9566 Old Keene Mill Road in Springfield, and at the suspect’s home on Larkspur Drive in Springfield.

Le was indicted Monday on four felony counts of indecent liberties with a minor by someone in a custodial or supervisory relationship and three counts of possession of child pornography.

He was arraigned on those charges on Tuesday.

Police do not know of any additional victims but ask anyone with information to call Crime Solvers at 1-866-411-TIPS.
