You may face longer security lines at Dulles.
The Transportation Security Administration closed some security checkpoints at Washington Dulles International Airport on Monday after more employees than usual failed to show up for work.
The west mezzanine and employee checkpoints were closed by the TSA federal security director at Dulles, airport leadership and airline leadership, TSA spokesman Michael Bilello said on Twitter.
Bilello attributed the employee absences to the snowstorm that hit the D.C. area hard on Saturday and Sunday. Nearly a foot of snow fell in the region, leaving roads slick and prompting school closures on Monday.
The employee absences coincide with the partial government shutdown, which is now in its 24th day.
Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport also is seeing higher-than-usual unscheduled absences by TSA employees, Bilello said. Unspecified "adjustments" were planned there.
On Monday, TSA saw a nationwide unscheduled absence rate of 7.6 percent, Bilello said. That's more than double the 3.2 percent of employees who were absent on Jan. 15, 2018. Information on the absence rate only at Dulles was not released.

Over the weekend, a concourse was closed at Miami International Airport after high call-outs by TSA workers. The airport said the decision was "a precautionary measure due to uncertainties created by the lapse in federal government funding," NBC Miami reported.
Despite the changes, Bilello said it's business as usual at the nation's airports.
"Security standards remain in place and have not been compromised," he wrote.
