Man Drowns After Going Swimming in Maryland Reservoir: Police

A young man drowned after going for a swim in the Rocky Gorge Reservoir on the Howard County and Montgomery County line Tuesday, Montgomery County Police said.

The 20-year-old man and two friends were going fishing when the victim decided to go for a swim, police said. His friends saw him go under and not come up.

First responders reached the scene about 4:45 p.m. Tuesday. They recovered the victim's body about 6:05 p.m., police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Montgomery County police are conducting a death investigation.

Swimming in the reservoir is prohibited, the WSSC website said.
