LEESBURG, Va. – The owner of the pit bulls suspected of mauling a Leesburg man requested the dogs be euthanized.

The dogs were euthanized at about 11:30 a.m. Wednesday.

They are believed to have mauled 20-year-old Carter Delaney, who was found dead inside his grandfather’s home Monday afternoon.

Delaney was taking care of the pit bulls for his older brother.

Delaney may have been attacked while trying to rescue a small dog, which also died, according to police.
