A bizarre police-involved shooting left one man in the hospital and several Prince George’s county police cruisers damaged Thursday night.
Police say it all started just before 11 p.m. Thursday in the 4700 block of Lakeland Road in College Park, just off the campus of the University of Maryland.
A woman called 911, saying her son was paranoid, threatening and armed. "It's my son; I think he's smoked some PCP," she told a 911 operator.
Police responded to the scene, gathering at a nearby firehouse when McCoy escorted his mother out of their home at gunpoint, they said.
"Please don't shoot him," a voice on the 911 recording pleads. Police said gunfire was exchanged, and the suspect was hit several times but, police said, that didn't slow him down.
They shot him with a stun gun as he ran toward the median on Route 1, but he pulled out the taser's prongs and kept running. He was apparently shot at by police again, and tased again.
He then got into the driver’s seat of a police cruiser and sped off down Route 1 before crashing into a wall in front a McDonald’s near Berwyn House Road. Several other police cars then swarmed the suspect, pinning him in and ultimately placing him back in custody.

The suspect has been identified as Andre Trorry McKoy, 21, of College Park.
He was taken to a nearby hospital where he is recovering from non-life threatening injuries. Police shut down Route 1 for several hours to investigate, but it reopened around 6 a.m.
McKoy has been charged with attempted second-degree murder of a police officer, first-degree assault, second-degree assault, use of a firearm in commission of a felony, malicious destruction of property over $500 and theft over $10,000.
