Police say a 47-year-old man was arrested in southeast D.C. Tuesday in connection with a sexual assault in Silver Spring last month.
According to officials, Dennis N. Carpenter was arrested on one count of first degree rape. Police say Carpenter sexually assaulted a woman May 2 in Silver Spring.
A search warrant was obtained May 31 for Carpenter's arrest, based on DNA evidence obtained from the crime scene.
