Suspect Shot By Police in Prince George's County

A suspected gunman was shot by Prince George's County police Monday afternoon.

Officers responded to a report of a person with a weapon in the 1800 block of Ray Leonard Road in Palmer Park, Md., at about 2:30 p.m. The man brandished the gun at police and refused orders to put the weapon down, police said, so officers shot him.

The suspect was taken to an area hospital. He has since been pronounced dead.

Police were called after the suspect, who was not known to the neighborhood, displayed the weapon for others in the neighborhood and refused to leave, NBC Washington Jackie Bensen reported.
