Metro Transit Police arrested a suspect in connection with a Monday night shooting on a Metrobus in which two passengers were injured.
Delonte Eric Brown of Southeast Washington, D.C., was arrested on a charge of assault with a deadly weapon, police said in a release Wednesday.
The shooting was reported aboard an X-2 bus on New Jersey Avenue and H Street NW around 10:30 p.m.
According to Dan Stessel with WMATA, three men boarded the bus at Gallery Place, and rode about seven blocks before getting into a verbal altercation. Police said Wednesday the bus was stopped at a bus stop when one of the three exited through the rear door, turned and fired at least one round into the bus.
A 21-year-old and a 47-year-old were injured -- one on the hand and the other on the thigh. Both have been hospitalized, but are expected to be OK. Police initially said the two people shot were a 17-year-old and a 21-year-old.
There were about 40 or 45 people on the bus at the time of the shooting, Stessel said.

Brown is the "person of interest" in surveillance photos police released after the shooting. A second person of interest, a female who was believed to be traveling with Brown, was also identified by detectives late on Wednesday.
Brown was arrested overnight in Prince George's County and is awaiting extradition to D.C. where he may face additional charges.
