Suspect Arrested in Stafford County Church Robberies

Linked to three incidents

The Stafford County Sheriff's Office says they have a man in custody in connection with a string of robberies after the New Year's holiday.

Deputies arrested 24-year-old Bryan Christopher Stevens on Wednesday.

Law enforcement surrounded a shed near a vacant property on Harris Lane, after receiving tips that Stevens was inside.  He attempted to run, according to the sheriff's office, but deputies were able to take him into custody after a short foot pursuit.

On Thursday, Prince William County police searched a home in the Dumfries area, where they recovered stolen items from the church thefts.

Three churches got robbed in Stafford County between January 1 and January 10.  Flat screen televisions, computer monitors, and gifts cards were carried away in the break-ins.
