Tuesday morning a Sterling man is behind bars in connection with a sexual assault earlier this month.
Police arrested 27-year-old Ernesto Solano Godoy at his home in Sterling on charges of rape.
Fairfax County Police say Godoy broke into an apartment on Merrybrook Court in Herndon on June 4 around 5:30 in the morning. A 23-year-old woman living at the home reported waking up to find a masked, armed man standing over top of her. Police say that’s when Godoy raped the woman and then ran.
Godoy is also charged with burglary with the intent to rape, and abduction with the intent to defile. A preliminary hearing has not yet been set.
