Surveillance Video Shows Persons of Interest in Elevator Pickpocket Scheme

D.C. police are looking to identify two persons of interest captured on an elevator surveillance video allegedly pickpocketing a man who was using a cane.

The incident was captured around 6:20 p.m. last Wednesday in an elevator in the 2100 block of Pennsylvania Avenue NW, police said.

Security footage shows one man dropping something in front of a man with white hair and a cane. The victim pauses to help him, while another man who was standing behind the victim then appears to take something from his pockets.

Afterwards, the two persons of interest are shown holding the door open for the victim.

Police are asking anyone who can provide information about the incident to call them at 202-727-9099 or text information to the text tip line at 50411. Crime Solvers is offering a reward of up to $1,000  to anyone with information that leads to an arrest and conviction of the people responsible for the crime.
