The parents of a New Market, Md. man with Down syndrome who died in police custody are suing the Frederick County Sheriff's Office and the owners of the movie theater where he died.
Patricia and Ronald Saylor filed the wrongful death claim Thursday in federal court in Baltimore. It stems from the death in January of 26-year-old Robert Ethan Saylor.
Saylor died as three deputies, moonlighting as mall security guards, tried to forcibly remove him from a Frederick movie theater because he didn't have a ticket for a second viewing of the movie "Zero Dark Thirty.''
The complaint alleges the deputies and the operators of the Westview Promenade shopping center and Regal Cinema violated Saylor's civil rights and the Americans With Disabilities Act.
Lawyers for the defendants didn't immediately return calls.
