Students, Businesses Show Appreciation for Teachers With Photos, Freebies

Take a moment this week and thank a teacher -- past or present -- for all they do.

This week is Teacher Appreciation Week, and Tuesday marks National Teacher Appreciation Day.

D.C. Public Schools is asking students in the District to celebrate by taking pictures with their teachers and posting them on social media using the hashtag #DCPSLove.

Chancellor Kaya Henderson and her staff will visit schools throughout the week, surprising teachers and thanking them for their hard work.

Restaurants and stores are also showing their appreciation by offering educators special deals and freebies.

Chipotle is offering all teachers, faculty and staff members a buy one, get one free deal on burritos, burrito bowls, salads or orders of tacos. You must show a valid school ID from 4 p.m. until closing to take part in the deal.

Chick-Fil-A is also showing their thanks by giving away free chicken sandwiches at participating locations.

Teachers can also treat themselves to a new outfit at New York & Company, which is offering a 30 percent off coupon for teachers and nurses until Wednesday.

FedEx Office is offering teachers, professors, faculty and staff members 15 percent off most products and services at participating locations. Click here to find out how to redeem your discount.

At Barnes & Noble, teachers can sign up for the B&N Educator Program and save 20 percent on any classroom-related purchases. During teacher appreciation week, that discount jumps to 25 percent.
