Three Attempted Bank Robberies in Fairfax Co.

Three robberies were attempted at branches along Richmond Highway

Fairfax County Police are looking for the perpetrators of a string of bank robberies this weekend.

Police say that three bank robberies were attempted, and one successfully carried out, at three separate locations on Richmond High during the midday hours Saturday, and there is a possibility that the crimes were committed by the same suspects.

At around 11 a.m., police say an unarmed woman walked into the SunTrust Bank branch at 5922 Richmond Highway and unsuccessfully attempted to rob the bank before leaving.

Sometime between 11 a.m. and 12:22 p.m., investigators say a man and a woman entered the Wells Fargo branch at 6300 Richmond Highway and unsuccessfully attempted to rob the bank by implying that they had a weapon. They also walked away from their target empty-handed, though it is not clear why at this time

The third, successful robbery took place at the BB&T branch at 6618 Richmond Highway. Police say that robbery was executed by one man who also implied that he had a weapon and received an unknown amount of money from the cashier.

The male suspect is described as a black man in his 20s, standing about 5 feet, 7 inches tall with a thin build and a medium complexion. He was wearing a red beanie hat and a dark-colored sweater in the attempted Wells Fargo robbery.

The female suspect is described as black and in her 20s, standing about 5 feet tall with a thin to medium build. She was described as wearing light-colored clothing and having long, red hair.
