Thunderstorm Watch, Warnings in D.C. Area

A thunderstorm watch for the D.C. area is in effect until midnight, but a tornado watch was canceled before it was set to expire at 8 p.m.

Quarter-sized hail and damaging winds higher than 60 mph are possible with the storms that have been moving through the area since Monday afternoon.

While rain is heavy at times, it likely won't last long enough to cause flash flooding.

The rest of the week will be dry and hot, with temperatures rising into the mid-90s by the end of the week.
