One Injured After Stabbing in Spotsylvania

The victim tells deputies her boyfriend stabbed her after she caught him cheating on her

Deputies arrested a man from Spotsylvania County for allegedly stabbing his girlfriend at an area hotel.

On Friday around 9:20 p.m., the Spotsylvania County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Econolodge Hotel located at 5321 Jefferson Davis Hwy for a reported stabbing, officials say.

Deputies found a 36-year-old Spotsylvania woman holding her abdomen. She told deputies that her boyfriend, 32-year-old Roland Thomas Smith II, had just stabbed her after she caught him cheating on her.

Authorities say witnesses at the scene pointed out Smith, who was attempting to get away on foot.

Deputies took Smith into custody without incident. Officials say he had blood on his hands and was carrying a knife with him.

The victim was transported to a hospital where she was treated for her injuries.

Smith was charged with aggravated malicious wounding and is being held without bond.
