Three More Possible “Springfield Groper” Victims This Week

Three more women were sexually assaulted this week in what police believe may be the 19th, 20th and 21st victims of the "Springfield groper."

The most recent incident occurred around 11:45 a.m. Friday on Floyd Avenue near Hanover Street. A 28-year-old woman was walking when she was grabbed. The assailant fled after the victim screamed.

Tuesday at around 6:30 p.m, a 20-year-old woman was jogging when a man approached her from behind and fondled her on Amherst Avenue near Cumberland Avenue.

Then Thursday, a 29-year-old woman was walking in the 5900 block of Dinwiddie Street when a man approached her from behind, grabbed her and fled at around 5 p.m.

The description of the groper provided by the recent victims remained consistent with prior descriptions: a Hispanic male, between 5-foot-6 and 5-foot-8 with facial hair, a ball cap and blue jeans.
