Parents Arrested After Young Children Found on Roof

Two Spotsylvania County parents were arrested for child neglect after their young children were found on the rooftop of their home.

Police were called to a residence on Wakeman Drive in Spotsylvania County around 10:30 a.m. Tuesday for reports of a 2-year-old and 3-year-old on the rooftop of a townhouse.

Officers entered the home and retrieved the children through an open window.

Prosecutors say the parents, Michael Gillikin, 26, and Nancy Gillikin, 27, were sleeping in another room. Their nine-month-old child was found unattended in a playpen.

The children were removed from the home and placed in custody of Child Services.

The parents were arrested on four counts of felony child neglect and were incarcerated at the Rappahannock Regional Jail with no bond.
