Spotsylvania Man Charged With Stabbing Wife

Dawn Hacker airlifted to hospital with a collapsed lung

A Spotsylvania man has been charged with stabbing his wife during an altercation.

Deputies responded to the 14800 block of Antler Road around 3 p.m. and found Dawn Hacker, 47, bleeding from an injury to the upper right side of her chest.

She told authorities that her husband, Jerry Hacker, 43, had stabbed her after they had gotten into a fight that turned physical.

Dawn Hacker was airlifted to Mary Washington Hospital with a collapsed lung.

Jerry Hacker was arrested and charged with malicious wounding. He is being held without bond.

Authorities later determined that the couple had been arguing for several days. They say alcohol played a factor in the altercation.
