Camera Catches Fenty's Smart Car Speeding

Mayor gets $50 ticket

WASHINGTON -- The Washington City Paper's Loose Lips column uncovered a speeding ticket assessed to Mayor Adrian Fenty this month.

A speed camera recorded Fenty's smart car moving too fast in the 5500 block of East Capitol Street on May 11. He was fined $50.

The mayor was driving and paid the ticket, according to the mayor's office.

The neighborhood where Fenty was caught is near the home of Veronica Washington, an aide who travels frequently with the mayor in his car, according to the City Paper. Washington has been rumored to take the car home on occasion, according to Loose Lips.

Fenty was in the area for a walkthrough of Watts Branch Rec Center, according to his office.
