Sparks and Smoke at Woodley Park Metro Station

Third rail shut down, with trains single-tracking

A third rail at the Woodley Park Metro station was shut down Wednesday morning after problems with an insulator generated some sparking and smoke inside the station.

Trains were single-tracked between Van Ness and Dupont. Trains ran about 10 minutes behind schedule.

The problem was cleared by about 1 p.m.
