Sources: Nurse Beat Student With Special Needs on Prince George's County School Bus

A nurse beat a 20-year-old student with autism on a school bus in an attack caught on video, sources tell News4.

Prince George's County police and Prince George's County Public Schools (PGCPS) are investigating after the Sept. 1 incident, police said.

Sources said the nurse became frustrated when the student began poking her in the parking lot of C. Elizabeth Rieg Regional School in Mitchellville, Maryland.

The nurse hit him and struck him with her shoe, sources said.

The nurse was not a PGCPS employee, the district said; she was hired by the family of another student.

PGCPS CEO Dr. Kevin Maxwell saw the video Sept. 14 and gave it to police, the school district said in a statement. Five school district employees have been placed on leave as the investigation continues.

No one has been charged, police said.
