If your child gets free meals at school, she may be eligible for the same benefit during the summer.
Free breakfast, lunch or snacks will be offered at several sites in D.C., Maryland and Virginia to children who qualify for free lunches during the school year. The meals are being served at local food banks, schools, rec centers and places of worship.
Serving food during the summer break helps kids who rely on subsidized breakfast and lunch during the school year -- but who may go hungry in the summer when those programs are not available.
