Soldier From Maryland Killed in Afghanistan

A soldier from Silver Spring, Md., has been killed in Afghanistan.

The Department of Defense said 24-year-old Specialist Barun Rai died Wednesday in Logar province, southeast of Kabul, of injuries sustained when a vehicle rolled over.

Rai was assigned to the 54th Engineer Battallion, 18th Engineer Brigade, 21st Theater Sustainment Command, based at Warner Barracks in Bamberg, Germany.
