Slow Down for Children on First Day of School

With school children heading to classes on Monday, the D.C. government is asking drivers to slow down to keep kids safe.

Volunteers and the executive office of the mayor will be out Monday, encouraging drivers to pay more attention to their commutes. They will be using signs to get the word out.

More volunteers are needed in all wards on Monday morning. The #SLOWDOWN campaign will start at 6:30 a.m. at the intersection of Florida and Rhode Island avenues.

• Wards 1, 2 & 6: Corner of Rhode Island Ave NW & Florida Ave NW
• Wards 3 & 4: Albemarle St. & Wisconsin Ave., NW
• Ward 5: Rhode Island Ave & 9th St NE
• Wards 7 & 8: Corner of Pennsylvania & Minnesota Ave SE
