Sleeping Woman Left on Plane for Three Hours

Investigators are wondering how a sleeping passenger was left aboard a flight after it landed in Philadelphia.

A lot of travelers do it: settle into their flights, close their eyes and doze off. But one passenger in Philadelphia got more rest than she bargained for.

She fell asleep on a United Express flight from Dulles International Airport yesterday -- and was left sleeping on the plane for more than three hours after it landed at Philadelphia International Airport.

Police and Transportation Security officials say the sleeping passenger was left behind after everyone else exited the plane, which landed at 12:27 a.m. It wasn't until 3:50 a.m. that a cleaning crew discovered her.

The passenger had a valid ticket, so the incident doesn't raise questions about security but about the flight crew's alertness.

United Airlines officials say they're working with a regional partner carrier to determine why all the passengers weren't cleared off the plane at the end of the flight. Of course, it also raises the question of why none of her fellow passengers woke her up, either.

Here's to a good night's sleep tonight.
