Reward offered by Washington Humane Society

A sleeping 6-month-old puppy was killed Friday in northeast Washington when someone dropped a large block of cement on his head, according to the Washington Humane Society.

The brindle and white puppy named King Tut was sleeping at about 9 a.m. behind the Circle Seven Express store, located on Mount Olivet Road NE when the incident happened.

The Washington Humane Society is offering a $2,500 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for this act of animal cruelty.

Anyone with information should contact the Washington Humane Society’s Humane Law Enforcement Department: Officer D’Eramo at dderamo@washhumane.org or 202-723-5730 ext.131. Information will be kept confidential upon request.

"This is truly one of the most horrific acts of animal cruelty I have seen in my 20-year career," said Scott Giacoppo, Vice President, External Affairs and Chief Programs Officer at the Washington Humane Society. "No animal deserves to suffer such a painful and unspeakable death."
