Sleep Well, Trinidad, the Generator's Off

Noisy generator provided cable service during lockout

Some Trinidad residents may seem a little more cranky than usual lately. They’ve been up all night listening to the loud generator that keeps their cable TV service consistent.

Because of power problems on Montello Avenue NE apparently due to a fallen tree, Comcast hooked up the generator to power cable delivery to homes in the area, but the noisy generator kept some residents awake.

Comcast apologized for the inconvenience.

“As part of Comcast’s extensive work to ensure network reliability, we commonly deploy generators to areas where the local power company is doing work that is likely to make power supplies unstable for a period of time,” a statement from the cable provider read. “In this case, we believe the repairs are a result of a fallen tree that damaged several spans and that the District is working to repair.”

At 2:15 p.m. Tuesday, the power went on and the generator was removed.

Comcast owns NBC Universal, parent company of News4.
