Slain Artist's Car Found; Police Search for Person of Interest

Police have found the car of belonging to an artist who was found bound and stabbed to death inside a rowhouse in northeast Washington on Tuesday, March 21.

The Metropolitan Police Department released pictures of a 2004 Toyota Prius that belonged to Corrina Mehiel, 34. She was found dead in a basement apartment on the 600 block of 14th Street Northeast.

Police found the car Friday but did not release any further information about the vehicle. They are still searching for a man they are calling a person of interest in the case.

Acting Police Chief Peter Newsham said there's no indication the crime was random, and police found no signs of forced entry in the apartment where her body was found.

Mehiel was an artist and art teacher who was working at the Corcoran School of the Arts & Design. She was last seen at the school Sunday night, March 19.
