Sketch of Abduction Suspect Released

Gaithersburg police have released a sketch that they hope will help identify a suspect in the possible attempted abduction of a young man.

The 14-year-old was jogging on the sidewalk along Midsummer Drive around 7 p.m. Monday when a man got out of a parked white van and tried to grab him. The boy pushed him to get free and kept running.

The man got back in the van and drove away toward Muddy Branch Road.

Police said the victim was not hurt.

They described the suspect as Hispanic with a medium complexion and a muscular build, about 6' or 6'1", and 190-210 pounds. He had a goatee and sideburns, brown eyes, and a round face. He wore a white crew neck T-shirt with three-quarter-length sleeves, white pants and tan work boots.

The vehicle was a delivery-style van -- possibly a Chevy or Ford. It had round stop lights and square blinkers, red trim on the passenger side and rear top, and a tinted front window. The license plate was positioned to the right rear of the bumper. The van has a passenger-side sliding door. The wheels were solid black with no hubcaps. The front passenger-side window was extremely tinted.
