Montgomery County Police say a man who was stabbed in a Silver Spring apartment has died.
Tomas Herrera Batres, 49, of Silver Spring died Monday of injuries suffered in the June 19 incident, police said.
Batres was stabbed multiple times in an apartment on the 8200 block of Piney Branch Road, police said.
Shortly after the stabbing, 31-year-old Ulises Blanco-Melgar of the 7300 block of 18th Avenue in Hyattsville was arrested and charged with attempted murder and assault.
Officers said Wednesday that an arrest warrant has been obtained charging Blanco-Melgar with first-degree murder. He remains in custody where he will be served with the new warrant.
