Silver Spring Parking Pricier in New Year

Long-term rates to go up by a dime on January First

The New Year will bring new parking prices to Silver Spring, Md.

Long-term parking rates will increase 10 cents to $.60 per hour. Short-term rates for those parking less than four hours at a time will not increase.

The price of a Parking Convenience Sticker in Silver Spring will also increase starting Jan. 1.  The current rate of $95 is increasing to $113 per month.

The Montgomery County Council approved the rate hike for Silver Spring parking in May to help balance the 2012 fiscal year budget.

Signs will posted in Silver Spring parking garages and lots for at least the next several weeks to remind drivers of the rate increases.

Silver Spring is not the only city picked for parking rate hikes in Montgomery County. Parking fee increases for Bethesda went into effect in August.
