Montgomery County Police officers have identified a 24-year-old man who was killed in Silver Spring early Tuesday.
Law enforcement received a report of a shooting shortly before 7 a.m. on Tuesday, on the 11400 block of Stewart Lane near April Lane. Moments after that report, officers also received word of a struck pedestrian in the same area.
When officers arrived, they discovered the body of Franklin Ikechukwu Amobi of Silver Spring. According to police, Amobi suffered trauma to his upper torso. Police said there was also evidence of a firearm being discharged.
Investigators are looking into the death as a homicide, though it is unclear at this time what specifically caused Amobi's death. Anyone with information on the incident should call Montgomery County police at 240-773-5070.
