Silver Line Raises Parking Concerns at Tysons Corner

While officials are encouraging people to park their cars and ride the Silver Line once it opens Saturday, they aren’t encouraging them to park at Tysons Corner.

Work has started to prevent mall parking lots from turning into makeshift commuter lots. As the Tysons Corner station is near the mall parking lot, keycards will be required to get into the lots during non-mall hours.

A mall spokesperson sent News4 a statement saying, “Providing ample parking for shoppers and mall employees is our top priority. To that end, we will have controlled access to our parking facilities before and after mall hours.”

Besides keeping commuters out, the new parking system could actually make it easier for mall shoppers to find a spot. It will tell you how many spaces are available on each level.
