Police: No Shots Fired at Union Station Metro

The Metrorail station at Union Station was closed for about a half hour Friday afternoon because of a report of a shot fired.

Police later told News4's Pat Collins that no shots were fired.

A 16-year-old boy's mother told News4 that her child was jumped by a number of teens and was beaten. They then took his sneakers, according to the mother.

A police officer quickly responded and teenagers believed to be involved in the attack jumped on another train. Authorities caught up with them at Metro Center and they are being questioned.

The victim was taken to an area hospital. Metro Transit Police are investigating.

Trains passed through the station but didn't stop from about 1:15 p.m. until about 1:45 p.m.

Trains are single-tracking between the Judiciary Square and New York Avenue stations, while police investigate an area of the tracks and platform.
