Three Men Outside Verizon Center, Another Several Blocks Away on Halloween Night

D.C. police say three people were shot outside the Verizon Center Friday night, and within an hour, another shooting was reported just a few blocks away.

Three men were shot at 7th and F streets NW around 10 p.m. D.C. Police Chief Cathy Lanier said one man was struck in the arm area and two others have graze wounds.

Officers have recovered at least one weapon and are speaking to a group of people regarding the incident. Lanier said she had tripled the police presence in the area for Hallowee.

"It's kind of shocking that we'd have anybody brazen enough to take some shots," Lanier said.

Another shooting was reported about an hour later at 3rd and H streets NW, where D.C. police confirmed one man was shot. It's unknown whether that shooting was related to the one outside the Verizon Center.

No suspect or motive information was released.

Verizon Center hosted a Fleetwood Mac concert Friday, though Lanier confirmed the individuals involved in the shooting were not attending the concert which let out about 25 minutes after shots were fired.
