DC Mom's Death Ruled a Homicide

The death of a woman whose body was found Aug. 1 in a Prince George's County Creek has officially been ruled a homicide.

Shavon Phillips, 22, was last seen alive July 30 while dropping off her daughter at a daycare center in Northeast D.C.

Surveillance video caputured her getting her 2-year-old daughter out of a minivan, bringing her inside and then returning to the van.

Two days later, her decomposing body was discovered in a large gym bag in a Fort Washington, Md., creek.

That night, someone broke into Phillips' apartment, stealing her computer and other items. Police said someone may have been was trying to remove evidence linking Phillips to a suspect.
