“Sharp-Dressed Bandit” Suspect Arrested

Police arrested a man they said is responsible for three bank robberies in Northern Virginia and Washington, D.C.

Arlington County police arrested Sunny Parekh, 30, of the 1400 block of N. Scott Street in Arlington, Virginia, Wednesday evening.

The FBI said the same suspect robbed three banks in November and December 2014.

Dubbed the "sharp-dressed bandit," police said the robber wore a gray or brown suit with a white button-down shirt and sunglasses; in one robbery, security footage shows the suspect wearing a peacoat and a navy knit hat.

The FBI said the suspect robbed the Presidential Bank in the Ballston neighborhood of Arlington Nov. 10, the Premier Bank in the Dupont Circle neighborhood of D.C. Dec. 4 and the Wells Fargo Bank on N. Washington Street in Alexandria Dec. 10. In each incident the robber passed a note to a teller demanding money and threatening a weapon, police said.

Parekh is charged with bank robbery and is being held without bail, authorities said.
