See Road Closures, Parking Restrictions for Capitals' Home Opener

After their historic Stanley Cup win last season, the Washington Capitals will host the Boston Bruins for their home opener at the Capital One Arena in downtown D.C. on Wednesday.

D.C. officials are warning drivers to expect several road closures and parking restrictions in the area ahead of related events, which include an outdoor broadcast of the game, a pregame ceremony outside the arena and a Rock The Red Carpet event.

The following streets will marked as "Emergency No Parking" from about 12 p.m. Wednesday to 1 a.m. Thursday:

— G Street from 7th to 9th streets NW
— 8th Street NW from G to H streets NW
— 7th Street NW from E to H streets NW
— F Street from 6th to 7th Streets NW

The following streets will be closed for the red carpet ceremony from about 1:30 to 5:30 p.m. Wednesday:

— F Street NW between 6th and 7th streets NW

The following streets will be closed for a viewing party from about 5:30 to 11 p.m. Wednesday:

— G Street from 7th to 9th streets NW
— 8th Street NW from G to H streets NW

Expect parking restrictions and watch for posted "emergency no parking" signs. Vehicles parked in violation of the signs will be ticketed and towed, police warned.

Drivers could encounter delays around event and may want to consider alternative routes, police said. Authorities are also reminding drivers to be aware of increased pedestrian traffic.

Police are also reminding the public about street closures in effect for the Atlantic Festival in the 700 block of F Street NW during this timeframe.

They said all street closures and listed times are subject to change.
