Several Cameras Record Va. Jewelry Store Robbery

UPDATE: Police apprehended Haywood Purnell Jr. Wednesday in connection with this case.


Someone broke into a Manassas, Va., jewelry store early Friday morning, Feb. 18, and it was caught on several surveillance cameras.

Video shows the burglar smashing through two glass doors to enter Ashby Jewelers at about 3:50 a.m. Then, he can be seen removing items from glass cases.

About 40 watches valued at about $6,000 were taken from two glass cases, police said.

A witness saw a man running from the store up Center Street and behind City toward the railroad tracks before he was out of sight.
