Service Set for Slain Md. Woman, Son

Estranged husband suspected in Germantown deaths

A service has been scheduled for a Germantown, Md., woman and her son who were killed last week. Her estranged husband, the boy's stepfather, is suspected in the slayings.

Jane McQuain, 51, and her 11-year-old son, William McQuain, will be remembered at a service Saturday at 1 p.m. at Cedarbrook Community Church in Clarksburg. Family and friends are invited; the media have been asked to stay away.

The McQuains' bodies were found in separate locations this month. Jane McQuain's husband, 45-year-old Curtis Lopez, has been charged with her death and is a suspect in William's death.

The McQuain family said in a statement that William was a spirited boy and outstanding athlete. Jane McQuain overcame adversity in her life, which the family said took on new meaning when William was born.
