A senior citizen was brutally beaten overnight in Capitol Heights, Md., police said.

Someone entered the 70-year-old woman's home in the 500 block of Drum Avenue through a window, police said. The victim was beaten so savagely she suffered a broken nose and a broken eye socket and was knocked unconscious.

She called 911 when she woke up on her floor Friday morning.

Investigators do not know if anything was taken from her home because she was attacked so severely she doesn’t remember what happened.

The woman is in critical condition.
